DESCRIPTION :

Digital 2 intermediate photography course in the Swan Valley has been designed to impart a high level of proficiency to the amateur photographer or to someone considering a career in photography. It teaches basic proficiency in digital camera handling and what all the menus, buttons and functions on your camera do. The course is broken down into a series of workshops or modules. The group will be limited to a maximum of 6 people for a highly personalised training experience.

You will develop your expertise in shooting tourist brochures, magazine and book style cameo and macro images, outdoor portraiture and fine arts landscape photography. Set assignments will teach you how to shoot in diverse circumstances. Although the key focus on this course is in upgrading your photographic technical and artistic skills, we also profile various camera systems to suit your individual needs. Your instructors are professional commercial, travel and action sports photographers allowing you to draw upon their depth of knowledge throughout the course.

▪ Shooting low light in the cellars of Houghtons Winery

▪ Handling high constrast light

▪ Natural light portraiture

▪ Lifestyle images in the vineyards of Lancaster Winery

▪ Arty product shots 

▪ Landscapes

▪ White balance & bracketing, use of ISO

▪ Exposure compensation, exposure bracketing

▪ Channels & parameters, colour temperature

▪ Creative use of depth of field

▪ Advanced composition and painting with light

▪ An analysis of quality DLSR cameras, lenses and accessories

▪ Unusual viewpoints & tilting / lens perspective / high contrast / colour harmony / motion

▪ Use of light on water, clouds, silhouettes, shadows, twilight

▪ Operation of external flash unit, rear/2nd curtain synch flash

▪ Flare for effect and star bursting

REQUIREMENTS:

Digital 1 course or a sound grasp of photography such as understanding all of the basic functions on your camera, shooting in aperture priority mode, exposure compensation and a grasp of types of lighting and the theories of good composition (an email test can be provided if you are unsure)
